Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

Newsvalues is an independent, human-edited publication. We collect as little about you as we can get away with, and we sell none of it. Here is the lot:

What we collect, and why

Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, we hold your email address and (if you gave one) your first name, in order to send you the newsletter. We use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm by email. Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe, which works immediately. Our mailing list is managed with MailPoet on our own server — your address is not passed to third-party marketing platforms.

The sign-up popup. The site remembers on your own device (browser storage) whether you have dismissed or completed the subscribe popup, so it stops nagging you. That preference never leaves your device.

Server logs. Like almost every website, our server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and fault-finding. They are routinely rotated and are not used to profile readers.

Comments and correspondence. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is useful, and no longer.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, and therefore no advertising trackers.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of your details with anyone.
  • No profiling, and no third-party analytics scripts following you around.

Cookies

We use only what is strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, session cookies if you log in, and the popup preference noted above). We do not set marketing or tracking cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to editor@newsvalues.com and a human — not a robot — will deal with it promptly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we would rather you told us first so we can fix it.

Where your data lives

Our servers are in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Email delivery is handled by our UK mail provider.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will say so plainly on this page and, where appropriate, by email. No silent rewrites.
